Be Seen: Colour My Wheels Featured in The Advocate

I’m beyond excited to share that Colour My Wheels has been featured in Spinal Life Australia’s The Advocate magazine!

For those who may not know, The Advocate is a publication that celebrates innovation, inclusion, and the incredible work being done within the disability community. To see our story on its pages is both humbling and energising.

Why This Feature Means So Much

When Colour My Wheels began, my vision was simple yet powerful: to bring colour, joy and visibility to wheelchair users. I wanted people to feel seen, celebrated, and proud to express their individuality. What started as a creative idea has become a movement—and seeing it recognised in The Advocate reinforces why this work matters.

The article highlights something that has been at the heart of Colour My Wheels since day one, that these covers are more than just accessories. They’re a way to spark conversations, break down barriers, and encourage connection. Kids who were once overlooked now hear compliments like “I love your wheels!”, and suddenly they’re included. Adults have told me they feel human again, visible again. Those are the moments that fuel everything I do.

On the World Stage

Another exciting part of this journey is seeing Colour My Wheels make an impact internationally. A Canadian Paralympian has already become a big fan of our designs, and at the Paris Paralympics 2024, four Australian athletes proudly rolled out with our custom Indigenous designs. Seeing them shine on a global stage was nothing short of incredible—and it makes me dream even bigger for Brisbane 2032, where I hope to see entire teams rolling out in vibrant, personalised designs that express who they are.

Looking Forward

Being featured in The Advocate isn’t just a milestone; it’s motivation to keep pushing forward. I want Colour My Wheels to continue growing—not just as a business, but as a movement that inspires confidence, sparks conversations, and opens doors for sponsorship opportunities for athletes and everyday wheelchair users alike.

Most of all, I want to keep celebrating the idea of being seen, not just visually, but as individuals with stories, style, and spirit.
